Overview After more than thirty years of serving in
leadership positions and speaking on leadership, author John C.
Maxwell is often asked, "If you were to take everything you've
learned about leadership over the years and boil it down into a
short list, what would it be?" This book is his answer. Simply and
briefly, Maxwell outlines the essentials of leadership that
transcend time, place, culture, and situation. These basic laws of
success can be applied to business and private life, helping anyone
reach their full potential.
Leadership/Business
Outline John C. Maxwell offers
lively stories about the foibles and successes of Lee Iacocca,
Abraham Lincoln, Princess Diana, and Elizabeth Dole in The 21
Irrefutable Laws of Leadership. Readers can expect a
well-crafted discussion that emphasizes the core attitudes and
visions of leadership. Maxwell uses the same tell-it-like-it-is
approach that he honed in the bestselling Developing the Leader
Within You. For instance, when explaining "The Law of
Influence," Maxwell states that "job titles don't have much value
when it comes to leading. True leadership cannot be awarded,
appointed or assigned. It comes only from influence and that can't
be mandated." Even after Princess Diana was stripped of her title,
Maxwell says she was still able to lead a global effort toward
banning land mines because of her sophisticated ability to influence
others.
If readers are looking for a step-by-step formula, Maxwell's list
of "laws" will probably seem too chatty and anecdote driven. There
are no specific tips on what readers can do during the next workday
to help them become stronger leaders. On the other hand, Maxwell's
background as a pastor gives him an inspirational voice and a
spiritual context to leadership that many business and church
leaders appreciate. --Gail Hudson
Book
Description
What would happen if a top expert with more than thirty years of
leadership experience were willing to distill everything he had
learned about leadership into a handful of life-changing principles
just for you? It would change your life.
John C. Maxwell has done exactly that in The 21 Irrefutable
Laws of Leadership. He has combined insights learned from his
thirty-plus years of leadership successes and mistakes with
observations from the worlds of business, politics, sports,
religion, and military conflict. The result is a revealing study of
leadership delivered as only a communicator like Maxwell
can.

Not too bad, but not helpful either Aug
14, 2005 |
I am new to leadership and I was reading the Chinese
edition of this book; this books enlist 21 different person who are
a good example of great leadership and they becomes the
laws.
The problem I have with this kind of approach in
teaching, how to be kind of book, is that it doesn't tell you which
one of these people becomes successful capable of more than one of
these laws; or is it just one law will qualify you to be a good
leader?
No doubt Steve Job may be a great leader in Apple,
but he also 'possibly' violate the other laws. So why he is still a
good leader? (just to demostrate the logic I see, this maynot be a
good example) |

Everything one ever needs to know about being a
leader. Aug 8, 2005 |
| The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership is one of
Maxwell's best books, and easily his best on leadership. It is by
far better than Becoming a Person of Influence and Developing the
Leaders Around You. It is ideal for any leader to read, regardless
of how good (or poor) your leadership abilites are. Maxwell teaches
us why leadership is important and how we can develop ourselves as
better leaders and those we lead to reproduce our efforts for
generations to come. I have had many great leaders who empoly the
lessons learned in this book, as well as many terrible ones who
could learn a thing or to from Maxwell. My leadership abilities
greatly improved after reading this and so will yours. |

Good book... a little short on how to
improve Jul 21, 2005 |
"The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership" by John
Maxwell is an excellent book about the qualities a leader must
possess. John Maxwell has an easy to read style along with excellent
examples to illustrate his laws.
Maxwell hits the nail on the
head with this book. I enjoyed reading about the laws, but I really
wished he had gone into more detail about how to personally improve
each of the laws he states.
Regardless, this book is a must
read for leaders and anyone looking to improve themselves. 4 out of
5 stars. |

A Book for Keeps Apr 3, 2005 |
| though im in my twenties. i realize some of the ideas
or "laws" may not be very new. but the author neatly compiles all
those things that make leaders what they are for those of us who
wish for something more or aspire for something better. quite
simply, he points us in the best possible direction. idiosyncrasies,
if any, cannot be avoided. the guy is still human anyway. however,
its best to just take the book with a grain of salt and try to make
the best use of the "laws" for perhaps better outcomes in your group
or organization. in all, its a good book. |
